On September 25, 2008, President Bush signed into law the ADA Amendments Act of 2008.  The Act, which is intended to expand the definition of a disability under the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”), will go into effect on January 1, 2009.  What does this mean for employers?  Legal headaches.  It is expected that this new law will lead to increased disability discrimination litigation as almost every employer (with 15 or more employees) will have at least 1 if not multiple employees who are eligible under this Act for increased protection and accommodation from the employer.  Learn about the changes this new law will require and the steps companies can take now to avoid costly litigation later.
