A Practical Guide to Nonprofits: Overview and Formation
This course will provide associates with a foundational understanding of nonprofit law, focusing on the formation of 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations. The training will cover key steps to create a nonprofit corporation, including filing requirements and the corporate and tax phases of formation. Associates will learn how different Taft practice groups work together to form and advise 501(c)(3) organizations and the different state and federal laws that apply. This course will include interactive exercises and hypothetical client scenarios. After attending this training, associates will be equipped to assist on pro bono matters involving nonprofit formation.
