Tax Associate - Private Client (Detroit)

Taft is looking for a team-oriented Tax associate to join our Private Client group in the Detroit office.

Taft is seeking a Tax Associate with three or more years of experience specializing in estate, gift, and income tax planning for high-net-worth individuals.  CPA or LLM not required but preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience with Tax research in the estate, gift, and non-profit area.  Candidate will advise clients and other Taft attorneys on wealth transfer and charitable planning strategies, including planning for retirement assets, Preparation of estate tax projections and review of estate and gift tax returns, individual income tax returns, nonprofit returns, and trust accountings. Candidate will work with outside CPA firms to ensure planning is reflected in tax filings and trust accountings and provide assistance with drafting trust agreements and related transfer documents to implement planning.  Candidate will review existing estate planning documents to ensure proper tax reporting and identify additional planning opportunities.

The salary range for this position is $185,000 -210,000/year. Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted information based on office location, work experience, education, and/or skill level.
