Senior Tax Compliance Analyst

Taft is seeking a Senior Tax Compliance Analyst to serve our team in Taft’s Cincinnati or Indianapolis office.
We are seeking a Senior Tax Compliance Analyst with 4-5 years’ experience to support our team in the Cincinnati or Indianapolis office. All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy—in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file state and local tax returns
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual tax compliance
- Respond to various tax return requests
- Maintain tax documents and records for the appropriate time period(s) in compliance with government standards
- Perform tax research on state and local tax regulations and compliance requirements
- Monitor changes in tax laws and communicate impacts to the accounting department
- Reconcile accounts and maintain accurate records for tax return preparation and internal reporting
- Assist CPA firm with federal tax return filing, including preparing supporting documentation and responding to inquiries
- Establish process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance within the tax function
- Collaborate with accounting team to ensure proper tax treatment of transactions
- Provide occasional support to the general ledger accounting team, including account reconciliations and miscellaneous projects
- Maintenance of city, state, and country codes within ERP system.
Requirements:
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills with high attention to detail
- Advanced knowledge of tax compliance
- Self-starter to take ownership of tax responsibilities with minimal oversight
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exhibit a high level of responsiveness
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Excel, Outlook, and Word
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum of four to five years of experience in tax accounting, preferably with exposure to multiple state and local tax types
- Public accounting experience in tax return preparation
- CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus
- Law firm or other professional services industry experience is plus
