Senior Staff Accountant (Cincinnati)

Taft is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support our team in Taft’s Cincinnati office.

We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support the Accounting team in the Cincinnati office.  All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy—in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepares accounting records and other financial reports, to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined within the department.
  • Maintains the general ledger and performs the firm’s month end balance sheet reconciliation process; including input of entries and research and correction of account discrepancies.
  • Assists supervisor with reviewing staff prepared balance sheet reconciliations for completeness and accuracy.
  • Supports staff accountants as needed.
  • Assists with preparation and tracking of all tax liabilities for the firm.
  • Analyzes and reconciles bank statements.
  • Creates and maintains internal control processes for accounting functions.
  • Documents and ensures proper keeping of financial records making use of current technologies.
  • Responsible for special projects, ad hoc financial analysis and other departmental duties as assigned.
  • Completes banking verifications, as necessary.
  • Evaluates current processes for improvement/efficiency and makes recommendations accordingly.
  • Assists in system conversion processes and merger accounting entries.

Requirements:

  • General knowledge of accounting and Microsoft Office products.
  • Basic math skills to analyze figures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong multi-tasking prioritizing and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) and three to four years of related experience.
  • Public accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
