Recruiting Assistant

Taft is seeking a Recruiting Assistant to join our recruiting team in Taft's Indianapolis or Minneapolis office.

We are seeking a Recruiting Assistant with 1-3+ years of attorney recruiting experience to support our team in the Indianapolis or Minneapolis office. All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy — in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients. 

Essential Duties:

  • Assist in the administration of the law school recruiting program; schedule on-campus interviews and coordinate related activities.
  • Assist in the administration of the attorney lateral hiring process; collect resumes, facilitates interview schedules, and maintain communication with candidates and third-party recruiters throughout the recruiting cycle.
  • Coordinate the firm-wide Summer Associate Program. 
  • Update and maintain attorney recruiting database.
  • Assist in the administration of the attorney Continuing Legal Education (CLE) program; monitor compliance requirements and perform data entry.
  • Provide administrative support to the department as needed.


  • 1-3 years of related work experience in a legal or law firm setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
  • Creative and thoughtful self-starter with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to carry tasks through to completion without prompting, and flexibility to handle evolving responsibilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with lawyers and staff.
  • Professional presence.
  • Ability to work with a variety of supervisors with competing priorities.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn new technology and software quickly and exhibit competence with new software and technological opportunities.
