Paralegal - Immigration (Detroit)

Taft is seeking a Paralegal to serve our Immigration team in Taft’s Southfield office.
We are seeking a Paralegal with 5+ years of legal experience in a law firm setting to support our Immigration team in the Southfield office, who would perform work of a substantial legal nature under the supervision of a lawyer. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Follow the ethical requirements set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the applicable jurisdiction
- Demonstrate professional, clear and concise oral and written communications
- Draft routine legal documents and correspondence specific to the Immigration Practice Group
- Conduct factual legal research and analysis relevant to the Immigration Practice using all available resources, including print and electronic sources
- At the direction of the assigning attorney, correspond with government agencies, vendors, and clients
- Create, maintain and retire files in accordance with Taft’s Information Governance Policy
- Researches and provides information specific to immigration client matters
- Prioritize work, monitor deadlines, and communicate the same to the assigned team; is responsible for monitoring calendar deadlines on matters and coordinates efforts with attorneys
- Timely enter, review, and correct time entries
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ paralegal immigration experience; experience must be with a law firm, large law firm paralegal immigration experience preferred.
- ABA-approved paralegal degree/certificate preferred
- Must maintain the confidence of client information.
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail and follow-up.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 – Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Proficiency and experience in computerized legal research programs including: Case management software and/or specialty practice area software (i.e. Tracker, FLAG, and/or CEAC), Computerized legal research programs (i.e. AILALink), Microsoft Office 2010: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Nuance PDF Converter.
- Experience with DeskSite/FileSite/iManage is desired.
