Paralegal - Government Contracts (Chicago)

Taft is seeking a paralegal to serve our Government Contracts team in Taft’s Chicago office.
We are seeking a Paralegal with 2+ years’ experience to support our Government Contracts team in the Chicago office. All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy—in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Draft government compliance program applications on behalf of Clients. Compliance program applications consist of, but are by no means limited to: Minority and Women Business Enterprise Certifications, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Certifications, Airport Concessionaire Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Certifications, Secretary of State registrations and reporting requirements and lobbying requirements.
- Responds to requests for information on behalf of Clients.
- Draft formal proposals on behalf of clients responding to government requests for proposals.
- Draft and/or revise contracts for Clients.
- Be able to effectively communicate with Clients and government officials regarding compliance programs, status updates, ongoing issues and new developments.
- Assist in researching and/or drafting bid protests and utilization good faith effort waiver requests.
- Drafting Client utilization plans and/or good faith effort waiver requests.
- Monitor ongoing contract utilization for Clients.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software, Smart Sheets and/or ability to learn quickly without diminishing performance standards.
- Experience in a legal or professional setting strongly preferred.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality standards (keeps confidential all information concerning firm matters and clients).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Writes clearly and informatively.
- Ability to work under strict deadlines to deliver high-quality work product.
- Highly organized, ability to multitask on a variety of projects.
- Ability to learn new technology and software quickly and exhibit comfort and competence with new software and technological opportunities.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally interact with clients, government agencies and practice group members.

Taft offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefit package, including medical, dental, vision, life, long term disability, flexible spending, 401K, Paid Time Off, paid holidays, bonus and more. The salary range for this position is $80,000/yr. – $105,000/yr. Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted information based on work experience, education, and/or skill level.
