Taft is seeking a Legislative Assistant to support our Public Affairs Strategies Group.
Taft Advisors in Indianapolis is seeking a legislative assistant to support our Public Affairs Strategies Group.. All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy—in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary
- Execute monthly client invoicing process.
- Document filing and record keeping.
- Assist team with documents in Microsoft Office programs, including creating and editing word documents, preparing presentations in PowerPoint, and maintaining internal records in Excel spreadsheets.
- Schedule appointments and manage calendars for PASG team.
- Assist in meetings by taking notes, sending files, and making travel arrangements.
Secondary
- Interaction with government officials and their staff.
- Monitoring legislative, administrative hearings and press conferences.
- Drafting internal communications, writing reports and response letters,
- Track legislation for clients and PASG team.
Requirements:
- At least two years of related experience.
- Highly organized, ability to multitask on a variety of projects.
- Ability to work under strict deadlines to deliver high-quality documents.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Writes clearly and informatively.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally interact with clients, elected officials and legislative staff.
- A reliable and dependable team player; with an ability to work independently.
- Contributes to a positive team spirit and working environment.
Preferably, candidates should have an interest in public policy and government affairs.
