Taft is seeking a Legislative Assistant to support our Public Affairs Strategies Group.

Taft Advisors in Indianapolis is seeking a legislative assistant to support our Public Affairs Strategies Group.. All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy—in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Primary

  • Execute monthly client invoicing process.
  • Document filing and record keeping.
  • Assist team with documents in Microsoft Office programs, including creating and editing word documents, preparing presentations in PowerPoint, and maintaining internal records in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Schedule appointments and manage calendars for PASG team.
  • Assist in meetings by taking notes, sending files, and making travel arrangements.

Secondary

  • Interaction with government officials and their staff.
  • Monitoring legislative, administrative hearings and press conferences.
  • Drafting internal communications, writing reports and response letters,
  • Track legislation for clients and PASG team.

Requirements:

  • At least two years of related experience.
  • Highly organized, ability to multitask on a variety of projects.
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines to deliver high-quality documents.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Writes clearly and informatively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to professionally interact with clients, elected officials and legislative staff.
  • A reliable and dependable team player; with an ability to work independently.
  • Contributes to a positive team spirit and working environment.

Preferably, candidates should have an interest in public policy and government affairs.
