Legal Technology Analyst

Taft is currently seeking a Legal Technology Analyst to support our Client & Innovation Office.

The Legal Technology Analyst will be part of the Firm’s Client & Innovation Office and will focus on supporting lawyers and legal professionals extract the most value from the Firm’s legal technology tools, including agentic AI, contract lifecycle management, document automation, and trial management. The Legal Technology Analyst will combine an understanding of law firm practice and attorney workflows with an aptitude for technology, listening, and problem solving to support, optimize, and promote the effective use of legal technology in client work and internal operations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Collaborate with lawyers and legal professionals to understand their matters, workflows, and use cases, and identify where existing legal technology tools can support the value of legal services and deliverables.
  • Work with practice groups to scope and configure projects in alignment with attorney goals and client requirements.
  • In conjunction with the Innovation and IT teams, help optimize configurations, templates, and standard approaches for repeatable use cases in identified tools.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting on usage and adoption of key legal technology tools and related matter pricing structures, identifying trends and opportunities.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for day-to-day questions and issues related to assigned legal technology tools (e.g., Kira, Luminance, Opus 2, Legora), including matter/project setup, configuration, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Provide targeted, introductory training and demonstrations on a defined subset of applications, focusing on practical, matter specific workflows, while coordinating with other key stakeholders on broader and/or formal training initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain concise support and enablement materials such as quick reference guides, getting started checklists, FAQs, screen captures, and short “how to” documents for assigned tools.
  • Gather, document, and organize user feedback about legal technology tools, including pain points, enhancement requests, and new use cases; escalate and follow up with appropriate internal teams and vendors.
  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of practice support and client facing legal technology tools, including high level descriptions, major use cases, links to resources, and key contacts.
  • Utilize a variety of information gathering and sharing techniques such as simple process maps, checklists, and annotated screenshots to clarify workflows and communicate recommendations.
  • Support internal education and awareness initiatives around legal technology, including contributing content for the Firm’s intranet and other knowledge repositories, emails, newsletters, webinars, and practice group meetings.
  • Stay generally informed about developments in legal technology, particularly in agentic AI, contract analysis, case management, and collaboration tools, and share relevant insights with internal stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of how law firms and legal departments operate, including familiarity with attorney work product, matter lifecycles, and common transaction or litigation workflows.
  • Strong aptitude for learning new technology tools quickly and the ability to explain them in clear, simple, and practical terms to non-technical users.
  • Excellent listening skills, with the ability to ask clarifying questions, synthesize input from multiple stakeholders, and reflect back needs and options in a concise manner.
  • Strong customer service orientation; makes attorneys and professional staff feel heard, respected, and supported, even when issues cannot be resolved immediately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create user friendly support materials and communications.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize tasks, manage multiple requests, and follow through to completion.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of cross functional teams (e.g., lawyers, IT, Training, Knowledge and Research Services, vendors).
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, persistence, and patience in working with internal and external clients to continuously improve solutions.
  • Proficiency with standard office technology and collaboration tools, including the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and platforms such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
  • Familiarity with legal technology tools such as:
  • NLP/ML contract analysis tools (e.g., Kira, Luminance, or similar).
  • Litigation/case or hearing management tools (e.g., Opus 2 or similar).
  • Matter or knowledge management and research tools (e.g., Legora, Harvey, or similar platforms).
  • Demonstrated ability to design and refine effective Gen AI prompts, build technology enabled workflows (including light no code/low code automation), and collaborate on or configure AI “agent” style solutions that chain tools and steps together to support legal work.
  • Experience with data and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, or similar) is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment in handling sensitive information.

Education and Experience:

  • College degree in related field
  • Two years’ experience in project management, systems implementation, and/or legal technology support
  • Familiarity with attorney work product and/or prior experience working in a law firm, legal department, or legal technology vendor is a plus.
