Law Student Extern - Domestic Relations (Denver)

Taft is seeking a Law Student Extern to join our Domestic Relations team in Denver.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented law student to join our family law practice. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a law student to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of family law litigation and client advocacy. The intern will work directly with attorneys on active cases, develop practical legal skills, and observe real-world court and mediation proceedings.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and draft internal memoranda on family law issues, including divorce, parenting time, and asset division.
- Assist in preparing exhibits, discovery materials, and trial summaries.
- Draft motions, pleadings, and correspondence under attorney supervision.
- Support attorneys in case preparation for hearings, mediation, and trial.
- Attend and observe court proceedings, mediations, and client meetings.
Education and Experience:
- Current second- or third-year law student enrolled in an accredited law school.
- Coursework or prior internship experience in family law or litigation preferred.
- Strong interest in pursuing a career focused on family law and civil litigation.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical abilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor and ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw or LexisNexis), and basic document management systems.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

The salary range for this position is $35/hour-$40/hour. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum pay for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
