Information Governance Retention & Disposition Analyst

Taft is seeking an Information Governance Retention & Disposition Analyst to support our Information Governance team in Taft’s Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton, Denver, Detroit, Indianapolis or Minneapolis office.
Taft, Stettinius & Hollister LLP is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and service-oriented Information Governance (“IG”) Retention & Disposition Analyst to execute and facilitate the retention and disposition of client and firm information in support of the firm’s Retention & Disposition program. IG Retention & Disposition Analysts are part of a specialized team who report to Taft’s IG Retention & Disposition Manager and work closely with various departments and legal case teams to ensure the successful completion of Taft’s processes for retaining, archiving, and destroying client and firm information.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with the IG retention & disposition team, IG leadership and Information Management onsite operations teams to execute policies and processes for the retention & disposition of firm and client information.
- Use Taft’s information tracking/management tools to facilitate the collection, review, retention, and disposition of physical and electronic information.
- Coordinate with relevant Taft personnel to ensure the correct identification, indexing, and management of physical collections scheduled for processing under Taft retention schedules/policies.
- Complete preliminary reviews associated with the disposition of electronic information across various applications and storage environments, when applicable.
- Perform database searches, audits, and close-out reviews to ensure information is managed according to Taft policies and processes.
- Utilize Secure Send or other FTP server technology, security and encryption controls, metadata structure, and database reporting to transfer applicable information out of Taft systems
- Serve as a trainer and resource to answer questions related to the retention & disposition of firm and client information
- Assist with information clean-up projects
- Coordinate with other Taft teams to manage data into iManage, docketing applications, eDiscovery platforms, shared drives, etc.
- Troubleshoot data retention & disposition issues and report on solutions
- Special projects and additional duties as assigned and directed by management
Knowledge & Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree
- Experience working in a professional environment
- Experience providing exemplary customer service in a fast-paced environment
- Law firm experience preferred, but not required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
- Ability to access, input, analyze, and retrieve information from various computer systems.
