Director of eDiscovery Process Management

Taft is seeking a Director of eDiscovery Process Management to support our offices.
We are seeking a Director of eDiscovery Process Management with at least 7 year of experience to support our eDiscovery Services team. The Director of eDiscovery Process Management is responsible for the design, documentation, and implementation of discovery workflows, processes, and standards for the Taft Discovery Group. Approximately seventy percent of this role focuses on process development and optimization, carried out in collaboration with Senior eDiscovery Counsel to ensure consistent, efficient, and defensible execution.
This position manages the eDiscovery Project Management team to ensure adherence to established workflows, communication expectations, quality requirements, and service standards for internal and external clients. The Director serves as a key liaison between project managers, litigation teams, and firm leadership to support operational alignment, training, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties:
Process Development & Workflow Governance
- Execute process-related strategy, direction, and workflow initiatives set by Senior eDiscovery Counsel to ensure consistent implementation across the team.
- Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures and workflow documentation across the eDiscovery lifecycle under the direction of Senior eDiscovery Counsel.
- Evaluate existing processes and implement enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, consistency, and defensibility.
- Lead implementation and adoption of new workflows to align with strategic objectives, firm policies, and technology capabilities.
- Partner with leadership to identify automation opportunities and support proof-of-concept testing and technology adoption.
Training & Documentation
- Develop training materials, checklists, and internal playbooks in partnership with Senior eDiscovery Counsel to ensure consistent workflow adoption and execution.
- Lead onboarding and training for new hires and existing team members, including PMs, analysts, and attorneys and paralegals who interact with the Discovery group.
- Conduct ongoing training sessions and process update briefings to reinforce consistent execution and address knowledge gaps.
- Maintain a centralized and current repository of documentation accessible to all stakeholders.
Team Leadership & Client Service Operations
- Manage the eDiscovery Project Management team, performance management, coaching, and skill development.
- Establish communication and client responsiveness standards in collaboration with Senior eDiscovery Counsel to support consistent, proactive service delivery.
- Serve as the escalation point for workflow-related issues impacting project execution or client service expectations.
- Collaborate with Director of eDiscovery Services, litigation teams, and leadership to ensure alignment between process, technology, and client needs.
Requirements:
- Deep knowledge of eDiscovery processes, workflows, and operational standards across matter intake, evidence intake, processing, search strategy, review support, QC, and productions.
- Ability to create, document, and enforce standard operating procedures and workflow governance for consistent execution.
- Proficiency in using RelativityOne to support workflow design, automation, template creation, and workspace efficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver structured onboarding, process training, and documentation for PMs, analysts, and attorneys.
- Strong analytical skills to identify process inefficiencies and implement measurable improvements.
- Ability to communicate and enforce standards clearly, including responsiveness expectations, quality requirements, and escalation procedures.
- Skilled in organizing and maintaining centralized documentation, templates, and internal playbooks.
- Ability to collaborate with attorneys and internal stakeholders to clarify project requirements and align execution with established workflows.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required; JD preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in eDiscovery, litigation support, or legal operations.
