Commercial Real Estate Paralegal (Washington, D.C.)

Taft is seeking a paralegal to support our Commercial Real Estate practice group in Taft’s Washington, D.C. office.

We are seeking a legal assistant with 3+ years’ experience to support our Real Estate team.  All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy—in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordination and review of title and survey and managing proforma and policy terms.
  • Due diligence management.
  • Abstracting contracts.
  • Preparing checklist of critical dates and contract terms.
  • Drafting contract amendments and ancillary documents.
  • Drafting acquisition/sale documents and closing statement.
  • Preparation of title rejection letters.
  • Coordinating all aspects of the transaction closing.
  • Closing binder preparation.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of commercial real estate experience, preferably in a law firm environment.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Sound judgment, decision-making and reasoning abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Taft offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, flexible spending, 401K, Paid Time Off, paid holidays, bonus, and more. The salary range for this position is $90,000/yr. – $115,000/yr.  Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted information based on work experience, education, and/or skill level.
