William (Bill) is a seasoned transportation attorney with an established record of successfully defending railroads and other self-insured entities. He is a partner in Taft's Commercial Litigation practice.

Prior to joining Taft, Bill held the position of Regional Claims Director at BNSF Railway Company, where he led an innovative team that investigated incidents in eight states and proactively risk-managed lawsuits and claims. While in this leadership role, Bill became a believer in the importance of getting his boots on the ground soon after an incident, collaboration and listening.

Prior to his time at BNSF, Bill spent nearly 10 years as a litigator in Chicago. There his practice focused on the defense of Class I railroads and other self-insured entities in state and federal court, Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) litigation and commercial litigation. He also handled complex litigation in state and federal court on behalf of Cook County, including appellate advocacy and criminal prosecutions.
