Paul is a litigation associate in Taft’s Chicago office and focuses his practice on data, privacy, and information security litigation. He has extensive class action experience and regularly defends clients against data breach claims and the highly litigious Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (“BIPA”). Paul’s attention to detail and team-first mentality often makes him a key member of bet-the-company-type litigation matters.
Prior to joining Taft, Paul spent five years as a litigation associate at an international law firm where he served as a chair for the firm’s Workplace Privacy and Biometrics practice group and independently managed over twenty complex BIPA class action cases, often litigating matters of first impression. During that time, Paul also represented clients in a variety of industries against biometric privacy, commercial contracts, product liability, single-plaintiff discrimination, bankruptcy litigation, and trade secret and restrictive covenants matters.
Paul earned his bachelor's degree from Loyola University Chicago and his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. While in undergrad, Paul was a Division 1 track and field athlete and, in his senior year, was selected to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s all-academic team. During law school, Paul was an extern at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and a CALI Award recipient for Appellate Advocacy and Writing. Paul was also the president of the labor & employment law society and a member of Loyola’s ABA Negotiation Team. As a 711-licensed law student, Paul gained valuable experience representing pro se litigants through the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Settlement Assistance Program for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
