Kyle focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation and issues involving government policy. He has experience litigating a broad variety of disputes such as consumer class actions, state and federal election law disputes (including ballot proposal and recount litigation), Lanham Act claims, and novel issues of state constitutional law. Outside of his litigation practice, Kyle has significant experience in highly-regulated industries, and has represented clients before administrative bodies on issues related to public utility law, liquor licensing and compliance, and campaign finance law.
Before joining Taft, Kyle served as a law clerk to the Honorable Robert Holmes Bell at the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan. He also worked in the Lansing, Michigan office of a national law firm, where he was appointed by Michigan’s Attorney General to serve on behalf of the State as a Special Assistant Attorney General before the Michigan Supreme Court.
Kyle received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law, where he was an editor of the Michigan State Law Review and was one of 20 students in his graduating class selected as a Dean Charles H. King Scholar and awarded with a full-tuition, merit-based scholarship. In addition, he served as an extern for the Honorable David W. McKeague at the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit; an extern with the Michigan Court of Appeals’ Research Division; a teaching assistant for Administrative Law; and a research assistant for Professors Deanne Lawrence and Michael Sant’Ambrogio. His writing in the area of administrative law has been published in the Michigan State Law Review and the Dayton Law Review.
