Courtney focuses her practice on litigation. Previously, she served as an assistant deputy public defender in New Jersey’s Office of Parental Representation, where she defended clients in court hearings, such as preliminary, and compliance review hearings, pre-trial conferences, and bench trials. She has counseled clients regarding admissions of guilt and negotiations, and has researched, drafted, and argued motions. She has experience preparing opening and closing statements, and conducting direct and cross-examinations for trials. She has also collaborated with experts and onsite investigators to investigate claims. As a student attorney with the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, Courtney represented clients in Family Court matters such as divorce, custody, and modifications of prior orders.
Courtney received a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A., in sociology, summa cum laude from the University of Kentucky.
