Christopher’s practice entails real estate transactions, the purchase and sale of privately held companies, and estate and trust administration. In the real estate context, Christopher’s responsibilities include drafting purchase and sale agreements, reviewing ALTA surveys and title commitments for encumbrances and unreasonable exceptions, due diligence investigations, and contested zoning matters. Additionally, Christopher has substantial experience preparing real property tax exemption applications with the Ohio Department of Taxation.
On the business and finance side, Christopher analyzes the income tax consequences from the sale of a business and advises clients on the most advantageous transaction structure to mitigate the resulting income tax liability. Christopher also manages a large docket of estate and trust administration matters, and frequently acts as the fiduciary in high net worth cases. Christopher frequently draws upon his experience as a real estate practitioner in order to effectively administer estates and trusts involving complex real property issues.
Prior to joining Taft, Christopher worked as a Certified Public Accountant at Deloitte Tax LLP. Before obtaining his CPA license, Christopher represented individuals in a variety of matters, including domestic relations, landlord-tenant disputes, bankruptcy petitions, and jury trials. In addition to representing private clients, Christopher also worked as a contract attorney for the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Office – Assigned Counsel Division.
During his second and third years of law school, Christopher actively participated as a member of the National Moot Court Honor Society, advancing to the quarter finals in both appellate and trial competitions. Prior to graduation, he received recognition from Syracuse University College of Law for completing more than 30 hours of community service.
Christopher serves as the Vice President of the Villas at Kings Crossing Homeowners Association and has a working knowledge of both Spanish and Portuguese. During his free time, Christopher enjoys playing ice hockey, running, and mountain climbing.
