Summary

Celia’s diverse portfolio of clients has led her to work in every phase of litigation, from discovery and motions practice to trial and appeal. She concentrates her practice on complex business litigation in all levels of state and federal courts, including defending and prosecuting litigation matters involving breaches of contract, business and criminal fraud, construction law, election law and compliance, white collar criminal defense, canon law, personal injury defense, administrative compliance and hearing process, general compliance and regulatory work.

As both first and second chair, Celia has represented a variety of different types and sizes of clients in appellate oral arguments, injunction hearings, arbitrations, administrative hearings and trial. Her courtroom experience was developed first-hand — prior to joining the firm, she was staff attorney to the Honorable Richard A. Frye in Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, working on the specialized Commercial Docket.

Celia focuses on getting practical client-driven results and evaluates the objectives of her clients to formulate the best approach to handling their litigation needs.

Celia exemplifies the Taft commitment to community involvement with the host of roles and responsibilities she has outside of Taft. She is actively involved in pro bono services and regularly serves as both a formal and informal mentor to young lawyers and law students. Furthermore, she is actively involved in the Columbus Bar Association as chair of the Women in Profession Committee of the board of the Women Lawyers of Franklin County and has previously served as chair of the Common Pleas Committee, New Lawyers Committee and Barristers Leadership Committee. Celia also remains active in the Federal Bar Association – Columbus Chapter and volunteers as a judge for local moot court competitions.

In addition, Celia is the coordinator and host for the annual Networking for a Cause event at Taft Columbus, which is held around the Thanksgiving season. The event encourages attendees to bring in donations to a night of networking which are all donated to a selected local charity in need.

Celia is the president of the board of The Ohio State University Dance Team Alumni Society, participates in the bike ride against cancer, Pelotonia, and is a member of The Childhood League where she advocates, volunteers and fundraises for special needs children in the community.
