Taft CIO Andrea Markstrom's i.Will Foundation Hosts Forum for Meaningful Conversations Surrounding Race, Politics, and Gender at Work

i.WILL (Inspiring Women Igniting Leadership & Learning) —a networking forum founded by Taft Chief Information Officer Andrea Markstrom  — recently hosted the virtual event, "Talking Successfully About Race, Politics & Gender at Work," which featured the powerful stories of Gillian Power and Kim Barrett. Power shared her experience in coming out as transgender while working in a law firm leadership role and Barrett shared her experience with racism in the industry.

The forum's theme of empowerment and vulnerability also demonstrated the important role of law firm leadership to recognize and embrace different viewpoints. “The role of leadership is to be able...to have the centeredness and the awareness to hold and value all those perspectives,” Power explained. Founded by Markstrom in 2017, i.WILL is a professional networking forum dedicated to mentoring, advancing, and supporting women in their careers across all industries and roles. The organization regularly offers community forums focused on collaboration and women's accomplishments, mentorship and philanthropic opportunities, and a "launch fund" which supports women who start a business or launch a new idea.
