McGrady Brings His World-Class Intellectual Property Experience to Taft

Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP welcomes Paul D. McGrady to its Intellectual Property practice group in Chicago, Illinois. McGrady brings his world-class experience to Taft in the area of trademarks, copyright, domain names/ICANN matters and intellectual property licensing and litigation.

McGrady represents large brands and small and medium-sized enterprises in the United States and around the world, providing legal expertise in the adoption, licensing, prosecution and enforcement of trademarks. He has a global reputation in matters related to domain name disputes, domain name transactions, the creation of top-level domain names, online copyright and brand identity disputes and transactions and counseling related to intellectual property aspects of social and mobile media.

The addition of McGrady to Taft’s Intellectual Property practice indicates notable growth for the firm, with five new attorneys joining the practice group in Chicago since 2018. “Taft’s top-notch trademark team and client-friendly rates were two key factors in my decision to make the jump to Taft,” states McGrady. “I look forward to serving my clients as a member of the firm’s growing Intellectual Property team.”

Prior to joining Taft, McGrady was a partner at a global law firm and served as in-house counsel at True Value Hardware where he provided legal services related to trademarks, advertising, shareholder relations and franchising. He has been invited to speak on topics related to intellectual property around the world and has taught Advanced Trademarks and Cyberlaw at DePaul University College of Law.

McGrady earned his Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University College of Law and bachelor’s degree from Cedarville University. He is the author of several books on trademarks, including McGrady on Social Media Aspects of Employment Law, McGrady on Social Media and McGrady on Domain Names, all of which are published by LexisNexis.
