Taft partner Anne L. Cowgur has been selected to chair the Indiana Legal Foundation (ILF) Legal Advisory Committee. ILF is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting Indiana businesses. It defends businesses in legal cases involving such issues as product liability, taxation, labor relations, worker's compensation, unemployment benefits, insurance issues and environmental regulation. ILF intervenes in legal actions on behalf of the entire business community to protect and ensure that business views are represented. The foundation’s legal advisory committee, for which Cowgur will serve as chair, assesses legal threats to businesses and then recommends action to its board.
Cowgur focuses her practice in the areas of appellate, business litigation, labor and employment, and media law. She has extensive experience as a trial lawyer with cases including claims of access to public records; administrative disputes; securities and investment fraud; corporate governance disputes; breaches of fiduciary duties by directors, officers, shareholders and partners; defending accountants and lawyers against claims of professional negligence; utility regulation litigation; defending claims of employment discrimination, commercial fraud claims; employment, covenant not to compete and trade secret matters; and a variety of contract and business tort disputes. Cowgur has been named an Indiana Super Lawyer in the area of appellate practice and has argued cases before the Indiana Court of Appeals, Indiana Supreme Court and various United States Courts of Appeals.
