Financial and Pricing Analyst (Minneapolis)

Taft is currently seeking a Financial and Pricing Analyst to join our team in our Minneapolis office.

We are seeking a Financial and Pricing Analyst  with 3+ years’ experience to support our Minneapolis office. All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy — in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assessing data from a variety of sources to gain insights into trends and opportunities and providing pricing support to Firm leadership.
  • Analyzing external data and market trends to provide comparative analysis.
  • Applying statistical modeling methods to determine the potential impact of pricing strategies, including fixed fees, budgets, and other alternative fees, on profitability.
  • Preparing cost and fee estimates for legal services and costs to various clients and matters across different practice areas and markets.
  • Utilizing and developing pricing models and evaluating pricing scenarios.
  • Measuring and evaluating performance of individual matters and portfolios of work against billing arrangements using both established and newly developed metrics.
  • Analyzing historical matter data and preparing custom categorizations of legal services to satisfy client and matter-specific requirements.
  • Compiling, analyzing and presenting data and historical statistics relating to utilization and realization.
  • Supporting Firm leadership and various departments in administrative functions, including but not limited to, analysis of request for proposals, outside counsel guidelines, alternative fee arrangements, discounts, fixed fees, and more.
  • Keeping informed on pricing analysis methods and industry trends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • 3+ years’ experience performing financial and/or pricing analytics  
  • Experience working in or with law firms, legal service providers or professional services; pricing of professional services preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant computer software programs (e.g., Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and databases, with the ability to learn new software and operating systems.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills needed in order to synthesize, interpret and summarize information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Ability to track industry trends.
  • Strong multi-tasking, organizational, and planning skills needed in order to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities, and to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking skills, with the ability to adapt to changing demands and work well in a fast-paced environment.
