Accounting Manager

We are looking for an energetic, customer-service focused Accounting Manager with experience to join our team in Taft’s Minneapolis office.
We are seeking an Accounting Manager with 2-5 years’ experience to support our Minneapolis office. Accounting Managers serve clients by providing accounting support to attorneys. All Taft employees operate under a “Client First” philosophy—in all things, we seek to provide exceptional services to our clients.
Essential Duties:
- Provide onsite supervision for the accounting team based in the Minneapolis offices, primarily billing and A/P personnel.
- Serve as day-to-day accounting department contact for the Minneapolis offices.
- Assist attorneys in researching and resolving billing issues as they arise.
- Provide support for the annual budget process.
- Assist with forecasting and analysis of various expenses.
- Assist with annual and monthly general ledger budget management of accounts by office and practice group.
- Assist with bank account and general ledger account reconciliations as needed.
- Assist with preparation of schedules for annual Firm financial statement review by CPA firm.
- Prepare, process and generate routine and special reports for distribution as needed.
- Ensure consistent application of Firm policies and procedures in the Minneapolis office.
- Performs other duties as assigned or as indicated by the work.
Requirements:
- Ability to handle highly confidential information.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred.
- Ability to recognize, research and resolve complex billing and A/P issues.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Courteous interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with and follow oral and written instructions from clients, Firm members, vendors and court personnel.
- Strong problem-solving and reasoning skills. Mathematical competence with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office programs. QuickBooks knowledge and experience.
- Experience in public accounting a plus.
