« Back Taft Attorneys Impact Columbus' Bicentennial Celebrations

September 14, 2012

Taft attorneys Leon D. Bass and Jason H. Beehler are assisting idUS, Columbus’ newest signature event, in its launch on September 28, 2012.  In connection with the City’s bicentennial, idUs is an 11-day collection of events, shows and conferences celebrating innovation and design. Among its featured programs is a Design Week event, a film festival and more.  idUS will run until October 8.

Attorneys Bass and Beehler worked with idUS on trademark matters. idUs and the City of Columbus created a big media spectacle with participation by Mayor Michael B. Coleman, and included a logo-wrapped racecar and a giant mysterious wrapped gift box prominently situated on Broad and High Streets (the epicenter of the downtown region).  When the box was opened on September 13 during a noontime celebration, the logos that the Taft attorneys worked on were propelled out of the box on a huge banner amidst confetti and fanfare.

Bass and Beehler also assisted the Columbus Bicentennial Commission with intellectual property legal matters, including the 200Columbus trademark logo. 200Columbus is an initiative to promote the City’s homegrown entrepreneurs, its nationally-ranked research institutions, and great neighborhoods, attractions, events, arts, sports and culture.

Bass works with businesses large and small across multiple industries and has built an exceptional intellectual property practice that blends traditional IP and entertainment law counsel and assessment with IP and related business and entertainment litigation.

Beehler is a member of Taft's Litigation Department. He also has prior work experience with the Greater Columbus Arts Council.
