« Back Gretchen Gutman Recognized at 2009 Women of Influence Event

Gretchen K. Gutman, partner in Taft's Indianapolis office, was recognized by the Indianapolis Business Journal at the 2009 Women of Influence Event on November 3rd. The IBJ recognized twenty women who have made a significant impact on the people they know and work with, the organizations they run, and the communities they serve.

Ms. Gutman has more than 20 years experience in the legislative and political arenas. Her government service involves assisting government and business clients in developing legislative strategies to effectively advocate their interests before local and state legislative and administrative bodies. Ms. Gutman joined the firm in 2002. Previously (2001-2002), she served as the Midwest Regional Manager for Mirant, an international energy company. Between 1993 and 2001, Ms. Gutman served as the chief advisory to the Senate Finance Committee of the Indiana General Assembly. She has worked in local government as the Public Finance Director for the Allen County Commissioners (1988-1989).

Ms. Gutman
was selected as the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs' 2008 Distinguished Alumna of the Year and has been named to the IBJ's "Forty Under 40" list.  She was also the recipient of Sagamore of the Wabash in 2001 and the Hall Render Killian Health & Lyman State and Local Tax Award in 1997.
