Taft Stettinius & Hollister is pleased to announce that Derrick Thompson, Roshan Shrestha, Ph.D. and Richard Hu have been named “Emerging Lawyers” by Leading Lawyers Network. Less than 2% of all lawyers licensed in each state have received this distinction.

Thompson is a member of Taft’s Litigation group focusing on complex business and contract disputes. He has significant experience as lead trial counsel in a variety of litigation matters, including partnership disputes, real estate litigation, employment litigation, intellectual property disputes, trust and fiduciary litigation, and sports and entertainment-related disputes. In addition, he has been retained as appellate counsel in cases involving business and contract disputes.

Shrestha focuses his practice on all aspects of intellectual property law, including patent litigation, prosecution and opinion work in the chemical, pharmaceutical and electronic material arts. He has a broad scope of pharmaceutical and life sciences capabilities, including Hatch-Waxman litigation and inter partes review proceedings at the USPTO. Shrestha has been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star since 2014. In 2016, he was named to Law Bulletin’s “40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 to Watch.” Before practicing law, Shrestha was a research scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico, where his investigation on materials for hydrogen storage technology received several patents.

Hu is a member of the firm’s Litigation group. He focuses his practice in the areas of gaming law, labor and employment litigation, commercial litigation, estate, trust and fiduciary litigation, constitutional law litigation, regulatory compliance defense and healthcare regulatory litigation. He was selected as a Top Gaming Litigation Lawyer – Chicago, Illinois, in Corporate LiveWire’s Excellence in Gaming Awards for 2016 and as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers.
