Menyhart Appointed Co-Chair of Benefit Company Bar Association Funding and Investing Structures Committee

Taft partner Russell C. Menyhart has been appointed co-chair of the Funding and Investment Structures Committee of the Benefit Company Bar Association. The Benefit Company Bar Association is comprised of lawyers who advise benefit corporations and other forms of business organizations that have as part of their purposes creating positive benefits for society and the environment. The Funding and Investment Structures Committee addresses developments and issues surrounding funding and investment in the social enterprise and “impact” areas. The committee is currently focused on developing outreach to business funding agencies, attorney and legal organizations and investor organizations.

Menyhart, a member of Taft's Business & Finance and Litigation groups, is actively involved in promoting the growth of purpose-driven companies, social enterprises and impact investing in Indiana. He advises social entrepreneurs on how legal structures, such as benefit corporations, can express and promote their values. This includes identifying the appropriate legal form for such entities, advising on expansion and financing, and assisting with B Corp certification and other third-party certifications that can confirm and strengthen a social enterprise’s corporate identity and mission.
