Schwer Begins Role as Partner-In-Charge of Taft’s Indianapolis Office

Bradley W. Schwer began his role as partner-in-charge of Taft’s Indianapolis office on Jan. 1, 2017. He succeeds Robert J. Hicks, who has held the position since the Sommer Barnard merger with Taft in 2008. Hicks was been elected as Taft’s firm-wide chairman and managing partner and he moved into this role on Jan. 1.

Schwer was selected by Taft’s executive committee based on feedback received and other factors, including his outstanding leadership experience in the firm. Schwer will be 42 as of Jan. 1, making him the youngest partner-in-charge to lead Taft’s Indianapolis office.

Schwer is a partner in Taft’s Business & Finance group and chair of the firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions group. He focuses his practice on complex transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and intellectual property licensing, as well as business advisory services and general corporate counseling for private equity funds, family offices and companies.

Taft is the fourth largest law firm in Indianapolis, with more than 100 attorneys and over 400 attorneys firm-wide. Taft Indianapolis is one of the firm’s two largest offices, is approximately equal in size to Taft’s Cincinnati office and is closely followed in size by its Chicago office.
