Amarilio and Cole Contribute Article to ABA Litigation Journal

Taft attorneys Jonathan B. Amarilio and Jillian S. Cole wrote the article “The Row over Rowe: What to Do with Facts ‘Between’ the Record” for the Summer 2016 issue of Litigation, the American Bar Association’s Journal of the Section of Litigation. The article reviews the 7th Circuit’s recent decision in Rowe v. Gibson and whether judges should be allowed to conduct their own research beyond what is presented in the courtroom. Amarilio is an associate in Taft’s Litigation group. He focuses his practice on civil appellate litigation and critical motion practice. He has experience representing individuals, small businesses, state and local governments and a number of Fortune 500 companies before state and federal appellate courts, primarily the Illinois Appellate Court, the Illinois Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Cole is a partner in Taft’s Litigation group focusing on complex commercial litigation, including representing local and national commercial lenders in commercial foreclosures and other special asset litigation. She also has extensive experience representing secured creditors in Chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy actions.
