« Back Another (Welcome) Delay for E-Verify

June 15, 2009

The effective date of the new E-Verify requirements for Federal contractors and subcontractors has been extended again from June 30 until September 8, 2009 to allow the Obama Administration additional review time.  Not surprisingly, there is speculation that it may be delayed even further at that time.  Until the rule is implemented, Federal contracts will not contain E-Verify requirements – good news for Federal contractors and subcontractors.  However, a growing number of states already require employers to participate in the E-Verify process.  Ohio is among those states currently considering mandating E-Verify.
