EXTRA!
Two weeks ago, the first Taft Dayton Labor and Employment Law update e-Bulletin was issued. In the short time since that first e-Bulletin, an important new development unique to employers in the Miami Valley region has arisen. Specifically, last Wednesday, the night before Thanksgiving, the Dayton City Commission passed an ordinance banning discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and/or gender identity in employment, public accommodation, housing and credit. This new ordinance applies both to companies located within the city limits and those doing business within the city limits. We are therefore forwarding you this e-Bulletin Extra to be sure that you are prepared for this change in discrimination law and for any changes needed in your employment policies and procedures.
Also in this e-Bulletin Extra is important information regarding recent changes in I-9 compliance and upcoming changes to Ohio's minimum wage. Future e-Bulletins will be issued as important court decisions, administrative opinion letters, regulations and statutes develop. We will endeavor to keep all of these updates informative and succinct.
