On September 28, 2007, Robert Kennedy, Superintendent of the Division of Labor and Worker Safety, in conjunction with the Ohio Attorney General’s office, put the merit-shop contracting world on notice that the method for calculating fringe benefit credits for prevailing wage pension plans will change effective November 1, 2007. It is widely believed that this is the first of many changes to come with respect to prevailing wage enforcement in the state of Ohio under Attorney General Marc Dann.
On November 1, 2007, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Fred Ungerman and Jill May, of the Dayton Office of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, will address the administrative changes and current technicalities of compliance. The session will be held at the offices of Associated Builders & Contractors, Inc., 33 Greenwood Lane, Springboro, Ohio. It is designed to help merit shop contractors self-audit their current compliance practices in order to avoid costly administrative proceedings and litigation. We will address the commonly overlooked technicalities, fringe benefit credits, certified payroll reports and the efficient identification and correction of errors.
