March 21, 2011
Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP announces that Majeed G. Makhlouf, a leading young partner in the firm’s Cleveland office, was appointed by Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald on March 21, 2011, to serve as the first Law Director of the newly reorganized Cuyahoga County government.
Makhlouf has been a lawyer with Taft for eight years and became a partner on January 1, 2011. Taft’s managing partner, Thomas Terp, also recently selected Makhlouf for “his high impact and potential” to represent the firm as a Fellow of the highly prestigious Leadership Council on Legal Diversity to serve along with other top performers at the nation’s major law firms and corporations.
Makhlouf has served for many years as a key part of Taft’s public and municipal law group serving many of Northeast Ohio’s municipalities. At this historic time in Cuyahoga County, this is a great opportunity for Makhlouf to assist the newly elected county officials to fulfill the citizens’ objectives of regional reform and economic growth.
Stephen M. O’Bryan, partner in charge of the Cleveland office, stated that “Majeed’s willingness to interrupt his successful and growing private law practice and newly achieved partnership to fulfill this public duty continues the tradition of firm partners dedicated to public service, including Senator Robert A. Taft nationally and Mayor Walter C. Kelley here in Cuyahoga County.”
