Kevin Kirsch and David Mancino will participate in a panel discussion sponsored by the Cincinnati Intellectual Property Association on July 16.  The CLE-approved event will take place from 11:00 to 1:00 at the Queen City Club in Cincinnati, Ohio, will include lunch, and is only $35.00/person.  The topic concerns (1) recent, significant changes in patent law by the new U.S. Supreme Court, (2) proposed sweeping and material changes in patent law pending in front of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate and (3) proposed major changes in patent law pending in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
 
The event will include an introduction by Representative Steve Chabot, who is on the Judiciary Committee, the Intellectual Property Subcommittee of the Judiciary Committee and is the Ranking member of the Small Business Committee.  This will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by David Mancino with the following participants:
  • Steve Miller, Vice President and General Counsel, Proctor & Gamble
  • Brian P. Barrett, Associate General Patent Counsel, Eli Lilly and Co.
  • Matthew Vella, Vice President, Acacia Research Corporation
  • Martha Sarra, Senior Counsel and Assistant Secretary, The Kroger Co.

  • Kevin Kirsch, Patent Attorney and Partner, Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP
  • A representative from the United States Patent & Trademark Office
The composition of the panel promises to provide a lively and entertaining discussion as it includes members with very divergent views on these issues.
