community involvement

Since our founding in 1885, Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP has been very active in the communities we serve.  Our attorneys take great pride in giving back to their communities in many meaningful ways.  Following is a sampling of our recent community involvement activities.

Nast-Trinity Church
Taft attorneys, staff, family and friends once again gave thanks by serving a Thanksgiving meal at Nast-Trinity United Methodist Church in the Over-the-Rhine community of Cincinnati on Thanksgiving Day. Over the last 10 years, this event has become a tradition at the firm thanks to Jeff Schloemer who organizes the event and Debbie Ossege who coordinates the desserts. Many people who are unable to assist at the church on Thanksgiving Day generously provide desserts to serve with the meal. The firm also collected outerwear to provide to those in need.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Taft attorneys, staff, family and friends participated in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Sunday, October 15. More than 8,000 people took part in the five-mile walk through downtown Cincinnati and Newport. This year’s event raised more than $575,000 for breast cancer research, patient services and outreach programs by the American Cancer Society.

Heart Mini-Marathon
The Taft team participated in the 29th annual Heart Mini-Marathon on Sunday, March 26 to help make strides in improving the quality and extending the lives of those suffering from heart disease and stroke. Heart disease and stroke end more lives each year than all other leading causes of death combined.  This year’s event drew a record crowd of nearly 12,000 people. The event also achieved a record number of company and family teams who raised pledges and donations.

Habitat for Humanity
On Saturday, July 12, Taft attorneys, staff, summer associates, family and friends gave their time to help build homes for deserving families through Habitat For Humanity.  The firm was assigned to two homes in the Madisonville area of Cincinnati.  The group built scaffolding, installed stairs, built walls and cleaned up sidewalks.  Habitat for Humanity is an international organization dedicated to the elimination of substandard poverty housing.
