diversity initiatives
Taft supports and encourages diversity in its staff and in the profession as a whole through a number of programs, several of which we were instrumental in starting and continue to play a key role in maintaining.

For instance, we were founding members of the Cincinnati Bar Association's Black Lawyers Association of Cincinnati (BLAC) Roundtable, which fosters discussion about - and promotes methods for - increasing minority representation in the legal profession.

We were also founding members of the Greater Cincinnati Minority Counsel Program, which seeks to encourage corporations to retain minority suppliers. Each year, we participate in the Cleveland Bar Association's Minority Clerkship Program. The firm also works closely with the Indiana Council of Legal Education Opportunity (ICLEO).  In addition, we collaborate with numerous law schools to sponsor luncheons on relevant diversity topics, and we participate in mock interview sessions and offer summer clerkships for first year minority law students.

We also support SWEL (Summer Work Experience in Law), a program intended to interest minority high school and college students in our profession through paid summer internships.

Finally, Taft established its very successful Professional Women's Resource Group in 1996, offering  additional support and networking opportunities for our female colleagues both within the firm and in the community at large.
