SARA SIMRALL RORER, a partner in the Health and Life Sciences and Business and Finance Practice Groups, received her B.A. in psychology from Miami University and her Master of Science in social work from the University of Tennessee. She later attended the University of Cincinnati College of Law where she received her J.D. in 1988. Upon graduation, Ms. Rorer was a law clerk for The Honorable S. Arthur Spiegel, Judge of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio. She then joined another local law firm as an associate practicing in health care law. Ms. Rorer's health care law practice includes advising physician and institutional clients regarding Medicare and Medicaid compliance (including the application of Anti-kickback and Stark self-referral laws, the defense of false claims charges, the development and implementation of corporate compliance plans, and coding and billing issues); Medicare appeals; peer review and credentialing; hospital bylaws and regulations development; managed care provider contracting; physician-hospital arrangements; clinical trials and medical research, HIPAA and state patient privacy laws and risk management. She is the author of numerous articles and is a frequent speaker to client and professional groups on a wide variety of health care law topics. Ms. Rorer has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America (health care law). She is active in the community; among other things, she serves as President of the Board of Trustees of GLAD House, Inc. and is a Board Member of Living Alternatives for the Developmentally Disabled (“LADD”). Ms. Rorer recently served as chair of the Cincinnati Bar Association Health Care Law Committee and is a member of the American Health Lawyers' Association and the Health Law Section of the American Bar Association. Ms. Rorer is a member firm’s Professional Women's Resource Group (PWRG); for the PWRG, Ms Rorer recently served as a co-chairperson of its Breakfast Forum Committee.
