JEANNE M. CORS is a partner in the firm’s Litigation Department and a member of its Antitrust, White Collar Criminal Defense and Health Care Practice Groups.
For over 10 years Ms. Cors has focused her practice in the areas of antitrust litigation and corporate counseling, representing clients ranging from small physician groups to multi-national corporations in industries including health care, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, food and beverage, professional sports and actuarial services. She has extensive experience litigating complex antitrust matters, including class actions, and representing clients before federal and state antitrust enforcement agencies. Ms. Cors routinely counsels clients on all aspects of antitrust law, including criminal antitrust enforcement, monopolization/attempted monopolization, price discrimination, price-fixing, distribution issues, tying, refusals to deal and exclusive dealing.
Representative matters on which Ms. Cors has played a leading role include
- Representing corporate clients in antitrust enforcement actions brought by the Department of Justice, including a large manufacturer of packaged ice.
- Serving as counsel for Kentuckiana Medical Center in an antitrust action brought by the center against local county governments and affiliated hospitals.
- Serving as counsel to BASF Corp. on numerous class actions filed throughout the state of Ohio relating to alleged price fixing in the vitamins industry.
- Serving on the litigation teams in complex antitrust actions on behalf of International Speedway Corporation; The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.; the Cincinnati Bengals and Barr Pharmaceuticals.
Ms. Cors also focuses her practice in the area of white collar criminal defense, representing both individuals and corporations in enforcement actions and investigations involving a wide range of criminal statutes, including the Sherman Act, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Sarbanes-Oxley, and mail and wire fraud statutes. She has extensive experience serving as independent counsel to corporations involved in internal investigations and routinely counsels corporate clients on compliance issues, including policy development and training.
Prior to joining Taft Ms. Cors worked as a legislative aide to the Honorable Herb Kohl of Wisconsin for six years. Ms. Cors serves on the Board of Governors of the Antitrust Section of the Ohio State Bar Association and is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She has been honored in Best Lawyers in America since 2009, was selected by Cincinnati Magazine as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, and has been named to CincyBusiness magazine's Leading Lawyers list.
