Gregory Sturm

GREGORY D. STURM is an associate in Taft’s Indianapolis office and a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property group. He represents clients in patent-related matters including drafting and prosecuting patent applications, as well as patentability, clearance, invalidity, and landscape analysis. Greg has assisted clients with matters involving technology such as power electronics, renewable energy sources, smart grid systems, electric machine construction, motor drives, cybersecurity, power converters, communication networks, utility grid control systems, microgrid control systems, electric vehicle charging systems, robotics, access control systems, active magnetic bearings, cloud-based control systems, electric fault detection systems, uninterrupted power supplies, circuit breakers, gate drivers, HVDC transmission networks, engine control systems, discrete event dynamic system algorithms, WBG applications, Internet of things (IoT) devices, and industrial plant monitoring systems. 

Greg earned his J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where he participated in the Tenant Assistance Project and the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition. He received his MSECE from Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis, with a concentration in control systems. As part of his graduate studies, Greg wrote his thesis on a microinverter-based maximum power point tracking algorithm for photovoltaic applications.
