JAMES M. ZIMMERMAN is a partner in the Business and Finance Department in Taft's Cincinnati office. He focuses his practice on corporate and transactional matters. He has significant experience in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, corporate governance, and securities markets regulation. Mr. Zimmerman has also represented numerous start-up and emerging growth companies on a broad range of matters.

In addition to his practice, he is involved in several community activities, including serving on the Advisory Board of Give Back Cincinnati and on the Board of Trustees of the Greater Cincinnati Venture Association. He was named to the Business Courier's list of Forty Under 40 for 2010 and been selected by Ohio Super Lawyers as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for several of the past years.  In 2007, he was a participant in C-Change, the leadership development program for young professionals developed by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section and Mergers and Acquisitions Committee.

Mr. Zimmerman joined Taft in 1999 after receiving his law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he served as senior notes editor of the Vanderbilt Law Review and received Order of the Coif honors. He received his undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Vanderbilt University in 1996. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio.
