LAURA A. RINGENBACH, of counsel in the law firm of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, earned a Master of Science degree in environmental science from the University of Cincinnati, and received her law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Prior to joining the firm, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Carl B. Rubin, Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court, Southern District of Ohio.
Ms. Ringenbach focuses her practice on environmental matters, and has previous experience working for the U.S. EPA Solid & Hazardous Waste Research Division and Health Effects Research Laboratory. She provides legal counsel to clients regarding cleanups, innovative environmental technologies, environmental management strategies, surface water and groundwater issues, real estate transfers, mergers and acquisitions, and alternative dispute resolution.
She serves as counsel to trusts implementing Remedial Design (“RD”) during the phase in the Superfund site cleanup where the technical specifications for cleanup technologies are designed. She also advises on the Remedial Action (“RA”) steps that follow the RD phase, addressing legal issues triggered by the actual construction of the remedy. A lengthy operations and maintenance ("O&M") phase typically follows the RA phase. Ms Ringenbach has negotiated numerous five-year review and remedy modification matters that arise during O&M.
Ms. Ringenbach has served as chair, vice-chair, and secretary of the Environmental Law Committee of the Cincinnati Bar Association. She co-chaired the 1994 Ohio Conference of Women Environmental Professionals, and is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association’s Environmental Law Committee, as well as a member of the American Bar Association.
A member of the firm's Professional Women's Resource Group (PWRG), Ms. Ringenbach is also a Barrister Emeritus of the Potter Stewart American Inn of Court. She has co-authored articles that have been published in the Environmental Law Journal of Ohio and Federal Rules Decisions. Ms. Ringenbach is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Environmental Law is recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyers by Cincinnati Magazine. She is a regular contributor to the firm's newsletter and environmental blog.
