Chou-il Lee is Of Counsel in the Indianapolis office of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP where he is a member of the Litigation Practice Group, Public Finance Group, and Public Law Group.
Mr. Lee concentrates his practice on all matters involving litigation and municipal representation. Prior to joining the firm he served as a Felony Trial Deputy for both the Vigo County and Clay County Prosecutors office and has extensive jury trial experience as lead counsel. Mr. Lee has served as Corporation Counsel for the City of Terre Haute, Indiana, since 2008. Additionally, he has represented the Town of West Terre Haute, the Town of Shelburn, the Town of Carlisle, Sullivan County Commissioners, Vigo County, and the Town of Seelyville Clerk-Treasurer. He understands the practical challenges faced by all branches of municipal government and the attorneys who represent them. In addition to the everyday responsibilities facing municipal corporation counsel, Mr. Lee has extensive experience with Hatch Act application, law enforcement discipline, collective bargaining agreements, and eminent domain proceedings. He has also issued opinions tied to Municipal Bonds, Bond Anticipation Notes, and Tax Anticipation Warrants.
Mr. Lee received his B.A. from Case Western Reserve University in 1995. He earned his J.D. from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law – Bloomington in 1998.
