MARK S. YURICK practices in the environmental area and represents public and private clients in all aspects of electric, natural gas, communications, and water/wastewater industries. He frequently represents clients before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio in contested rate matters, significant rulemaking and siting matters and works extensively with large industrial and commercial entities in negotiating unique utility arrangements, including arrangements with large investor owned utilities to fund all types of renewable energy projects. Mr. Yurick is also active in the local government law area, representing the City of Lebanon, Ohio as its City Attorney.

Representative Experience

  • Represent the Kroger Company, one of America’s largest grocery chains, in energy related regulatory matters, including contested statewide electric rate cases and applications for special arrangements related to renewable energy portfolio standards.
  • Briefed and argued Cincinnati v. Discovery Network, Inc., 503 U.S.918 (1992) before the United States Supreme Court
  • Represent Aqua Ohio, Inc., Ohio’s largest investor-owned water distribution utility in regulatory matters including rate cases, system improvement charge approvals, tariff amendments and acquisitions
  • Represent several telecommunications service providers, including competitive 911 providers and competitive local exchange carriers
  • Represent various municipalities as special counsel in regulatory matters before the public utilities commission
  • Represents the City of Lebanon, Ohio as its City Attorney
  • Served as lead trial counsel in numerous cases in state and federal courts, at both trial and appellate courts
  • Represents clients before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio in significant rulemaking and siting matters
  • Advises public and private clients in energy, communications and water/wastewater related matters
  • Represents Republic Steel in negotiating a unique rate arrangement for industrial expansion
  • Represents a large independent gas manufacturer before the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio
