JOHN PAPAGEORGE is a trial lawyer and a member of Taft’s Litigation, Product Liability and Personal Injury and Labor and Employment Law departments. Mr. Papageorge has served as lead counsel for clients involved in jury and nonjury matters in both federal and state courts. He has also argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. In addition to his jury trial experience, he has successfully represented clients in arbitration matters and has been involved in numerous mediations.
Mr. Papageorge routinely represents companies and individuals involved in complex commercial litigation, breach of contract and breach of warranty matters, construction disputes, patent and trademark litigation, home construction litigation, and products liability litigation. He has significant experience defending personal injury and property damage claims, which often involve significant injury and potential significant exposure for his clients. His litigation experience also includes the representation of companies involved in employment litigation, including the Family and Medical Leave Act, Americans With Disabilities Act, Title VII, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Employment Retirement Income Security Act, non-competition litigation and executive termination litigation.
As a trial lawyer, Mr. Papageorge has examined numerous witnesses before juries, conducted direct and cross-examinations of expert witnesses on a variety of subject matters, and successfully argued discovery and evidentiary motions before federal and state judges.
Mr. Papageorge is active with the Indiana State Bar Association and has previously served as Chair of the ISBA Litigation Section. He currently serves as Chair of the IndianaDocs Program and in 2007 was awarded the prestigious Presidental Citation by ISBA President Richard Eynon for his work on the Program. He is also a Barrister in the Indianapolis American Inn of Court, an organization dedicated to improving the skills, professionalism and ethics of the bench and bar. Mr. Papageorge routinely lectures on trial practice methods, with an emphasis on cross examination and closing argument.
Mr. Papageorge currently serves as a Board Member of the Indiana University College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Board and as an Executive Board Member of the St. Richard’s School Parent Organization. He is married to Sandra and has three children.
