JERALD I. ANCEL serves as co-chair of the Business Restructuring, Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights Group at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. He received his B.S. in accounting from Indiana University in 1965 and his J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1968.
For more than 35 years, Mr. Ancel has concentrated his practice on representing financially-distressed businesses and individuals in out-of-court restructuring arrangements or Chapter 11 reorganizations. These representations include all types of complex transactions and litigations, including the acquisition and sale of assets and the prosecution and defense of fraudulent conveyance and preference litigation.
Mr. Ancel is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy, a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and a Coordinating Editor for the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal, On The Edge column to which he has contributed 15 articles on numerous bankruptcy topics. In December 2011, he completed forty hours of intense mediation training at the American Bankruptcy Institute - St. John's University School of Law, Hugh L. Carey Center for Dispute Resolution. He is a frequent speaker on bankruptcy topics and Chairs the annual Sigmund J. Beck Advanced Bankruptcy Roundtable sponsored by the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum.
He has been included in Woodward/White’s The Best Lawyers in America since 1987 and he has been named one of the Top 50 Lawyers in Indiana Super Lawyers magazine, published by Law & Politics magazine.
