JOHN M. MUELLER is a partner in the Intellectual Property and Patent Practice Groups of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. He received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Purdue University and his Juris Doctor from Indiana University School of Law - Bloomington. Mr. Mueller has experience in all facets of intellectual property law including patent, trademark, copyright and trade-secret law. Mr. Mueller has prepared and prosecuted patent applications on a wide variety of subjects and in a wide variety of industries. In particular, Mr. Mueller has experience in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the consumer products industry. In relation thereto, Mr. Mueller has extensive experience in managing the patent and trademark portfolios of large consumer products companies as well as issuing patent and trademark clearance and non-infringement opinions. Additionally, Mr. Mueller has significant experience handling trademark disputes. Such experience includes the filing and prosecuting of Lanham Act, Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy, and Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act actions as well as opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Mr. Mueller currently sits on the Indiana University Law Alumni Board and, in addition to being registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, is admitted to practice in the State of Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
