GREGORY J. O’BRIEN is a partner in the Cleveland office of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP concentrating his practice in the areas of commercial litigation, corporate and public law. He also currently serves in the capacity of business development officer for the firm.
For over 16 years, Mr. O’Brien has successfully represented private and public employers in a full array of corporate governance and litigation-avoidance strategies. His practice also includes the defense of financial services companies and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in matters involving federal lending law, including the Truth in Lending Act, Real-Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Home Ownership and Equity Protection Act.
Mr. O’Brien assists public entities with establishing and maintaining effective and efficient quality initiatives for environmentally-friendly programs, including waste management and recycling. Mr. O’Brien brings real business acumen to his practice, as he is the Law Director for the City of Independence, an economic corridor community which contains one of the largest commercial districts in the region.
He received his undergraduate degree from University of Toledo and his J.D. from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, graduating magna cum laude. He is admitted to practice before the bars of the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, and the State of Ohio.
Mr. O’Brien is a member of the Cleveland Catholic Charities Youth League and serves on the board of the Geauga County Bluecoats.
