DAVID V. ALLEN is a partner in the Cleveland office of the law firm of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. His practice concentrates in all aspects of commercial and residential real estate transactions, including:
- acquisition and sales
- site development and government approval processes
- financing (conventional, bonds, equity, grants)
- tax credits (low income housing, new markets, job creation)
- leases
- work-outs and business restructuring
- foreclosures
- construction
- mechanic’s liens
- condominiums
- homeowner associations
Mr. Allen also handles various forms of business entity transactions, including formation, restructuring, finance, operations, asset transfers, stock transfers, non-profit entities, intellectual property, and licensing.
After earning his Juris Doctor from The University of Akron School of Law, 1988, Mr. Allen has been admitted to practice law in the State of Ohio in good standing ever since. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1983.
As a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, Mr. Allen served as Co-Chair of its Real Estate Law Institute in 2009 and 2010. Mr. Allen also provides instruction at continuing legal education seminars and at the under-graduate level, teaching business law and ethics at Walsh University's School for Professional Studies.
Mr. Allen is active in several organizations, including The British-American Chamber of Commerce; the Strongsville Chamber of Commerce; Strongsville City Council (Ward 2 Councilman from 1991 – 1994); St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church; and Strongsville Community Theatre. He is President of The Loxley Purse, a scholarship fund assisting Ohio students to pursue studies in the United Kingdom and vice versa.
